When I do a casserole I use stock cubes, would this be ok for my 6 month old baby?

I use Kallo Organic very low salt ones. Or I cook the meat on the bone and just add water, that way the meat makes its own stock.

I'm sure it's fine, it's just worth keeping their salt intake down.

I always gave my ds' our casserole mixed up at this age, but i know you can get salt free stock cubes ( got these for ds1, but ds2 just had ours!!!) aslong as you add any seasoning after mixng it for baby, it should be fine.

I wouldn't use an ordinary one for 6 month old. A low salt one maybe, but would read the label first to check exactly how much salt was in it.

Having said that, though, mine didn't get meat until they were 12 months.

Low salt ones would be better just to reduce your lo's salt intake.

Check out this thread that I started last week.

not normal stock cubes - too salty. As an eg, a single knorr chicken stock cube has about 4.25g of salt in it.

If I really need stock I use Kallo Organic low salt, same as niggle - but if your meat is good quality you should be fine without.

i definitely wouldnt use it on a baby so young. use the salt free alternatives- will be better for you all ! i still wouldnt use them now for my 3 and (v nearly) 2 yr olds

I use the baby organic low salt stock cubes you can buy in Boots for about the same price as normal stock cubes. I haven't seen the kallo ones.

Or if I have run out and need to get something urgently and can only go to the supermarket I buy the ready made liquid stock, it has much less salt in. It's more expensive but I only use it in emergencies like this.

I was just going to say the Baby Organic Ones. They're nice. Then I just add salt to taste at the table if I want some in mine.
