Tray for finger food?

I have one of those high chairs that doesn't have a tray but comes right up to the table. I'm looking for a tray, something reasonably large and with a rim so my LO can't swipe all the food off the table in one go, that sticks to the table. Any suggestions?

I used those old-fashioned enamelled picnic plates - nice and big, unbreakable, and still have a collection for when we've got lots of kids round helping themselves to bits. Also useful for cooling hot foods more quickly than they would on china or plastic.

One warning though - they do make a splendid noise when they hit the floor, which can encourage further sweeping...

I don't bother - we've got an oilcloth on the table and I wash it down afterwards. I've never been able to find anything that stays put.

for really sloppy food i use a plastic plate or bowl, but it does get pushed around.

I've bought a sucker type bowl and a mat to go under trays / plates, but neither were a match for my babies!

I got a sticky on mat for this very purpose - like this

thanks Tommy, that's the kind of thing I had in mind, although ideally with a big rim all the way round. Not worried about keeping the table clean, just want something to keep the finger food "in range" for more than about 30 seconds!
Would it be nuts to blutack a big plate to the table?

he will probably pull it off I bought one of those sucker bowls for DS3 and he just tossed it aside and flung the contents across the floor...

those mats stick down pretty hard though

I had one of these and it was a bit rubbish tbh - didn't work for me anyway

norktasticninja · 30/04/2009 17:19

This is what you are looking for. How well it sticks depends on what surface you use it on though (which is logical with suckers really).

Andlou · 01/05/2009 19:35

You're right, that is exactly what I'm after. Not willing to spend over £40 on it though!

'tis stupidly expensive isn't it. You'd probably be just as well off buying some loose suckers and a rectangular tray TBH.
