Could anyone please give me a quick and easy version of why not to wean before 26 weeks?

Oh, and if you could word it for people who are convinced rusks in bottles are a good thing, that would be better.

Sorry to ask. I'm trying to help, trying to say that "oh, he's big, he wants weaning", isn't a good thing, but I'm not that good with words.

Oh and the baby in question is 11 weeks and has already began weaning with rusks and baby rice.

"Health experts agree that around six months is the best age for introducing solids. Before this, your baby's digestive system is still developing and weaning too soon may increase the risk of infections and allergies .....Solid foods should never be introduced before four months." (Taken from the NHS leaflet called "Weaning" that I got given by my HV.) You can get it by phoning 08701555455 or emailing [email protected] and asking for the weaning booklet (278960/Weaning) I presume you are trying to persuade someone else that weaning an 11 week old isn't a good idea and maybe leaving the leaflet around might help!

Hmm guess I need to do * around every word to make that sentence bold.

Yes I am trying to persuade that it's a bad idea. I think I've just made myself enemy No 1 though and the baby needs it.
It's someone I know (and have known for 3 years) online and she doesn't want to know but worth a try I thought.

Thank you.

Ditto the above, maybe play up the benefits for her e.g. - also its easier shoving them on a boob/bottle, then faffing round with food. Also babies younger than 6 months get used to very sloppy food, as its all you can feed them, then it's a nightmare feeding them lumpy normal food. My cousin fed her ds from 5 weeks old he is now 9 months, and he will only eat very pureed jarred food now and cant join in with the rest of the family meal which is hard going for her as she has to leave her own food. My dd is the same age and eats lumps/finger food and has what we have which makes it a lot easier as we all eat together. your friends will be making a rod for her own back.
