Am I weaning too slowly?

Sounds silly but ds is so hungry and ready for some proper food (he's six and a half months) but because he has eczema i've been going slow. First week baby rice. Second week mashed sweet potato. Now we're on mashed carrot. Do you think I'm being mean? He wants to eat loads of everything, but I try to take the bowl away after he's had about as much as I imagine would be in a jar of baby food. Has anyone else weaned this slow, or do you think I'm bonkers?

I think you're over thinking things. Let him eat as much as he wants once you've decided to give something.

I'm slow at weaning because I'm disorganised. Baby Starlight is 7 months and had 2 meals. One was sweet potato, and the other just normal mash. Perhaps I'll give weetabix tomorrow!?

i think you're probably right starlight. i initially started being this weird because i wanted to see if any ingredient made his eczema worse but now i think i am makign things too complicated...

Agree with starlight. I think you can do one new thing every couple of days but not restrict the amount iyswim. I think if you are going to have a reaction you will see it that day as long as its the only new thing that day.

Jane - it's absolutely fine to take it slowly! Milk should still meet most of the babies needs for the first year, solid food is supplemental. Sounds like you're doing really well

IMO variety is important right from the start as each food group complement each other. I would only be cautious with the known allergens such as wheat, dairy, fish, eggs, nut spreads. If you keep a diary of the meals you can work out if something else is affecting him.
