Unsure about milk feeds

DS (nearly 9m, BF) is losing interest in milk feeds in the daytime. He will still have a feed around 2pm if I offer it, but it's not enough for him alone and he needs solids as well at that time to be satisifed. If I just give him solids instead he isn't bothered, so in theory he would be happy with milk first thing in the morning and at bedtime (he does wake and feed in the night once or twice but it's a minimal amount just to settle him).

I'm not sure if it's too early for him to give up this feed though. It would be handy if he did before I go back to work in a month, but is it not a good idea? It's hard to tell how much exactly he's having but he seems to have a pretty good feed morning and evening, but as BF I'm not sure precisely how much. He eats a lot of yogurt, fromage frais, cheese etc so I know he gets a fair bit of calcium but I don't want him to wean too fast if it's not good for him...

My ds2 has only had 2 feeds a day since he was about 8 months.

As long as they get calcium from other sources it's fine (or so my hv told me!)

Oh, that's good - I was going to check with HVs as well but it's good to know it's not just us. He does eat a decent amount but it's little and often - he has something every couple of hours at the moment.

My DS dropped this feed at around 9-9.5mo. I tried to wean him to formula for that feed but he refused so I gave up offering formula and decided instead to take a don't offer/don't deny approach for that feed but he never even seemed to demand it again. It had become a shorter and shorter feed and was pushing out later in the day (4pm) before I ended up offering, and he would only take a short feed then, so I think when I tried to wean him he just decided he'd rather not bother.

He always had slow weight gain so I was a bit worried, but I just made sure he had lots of yoghurt, milk on cereal, cheese sauces etc. and he has been fine.
