Wretching and spitting

DS is 12 months and has always been a good eater. When his teeth are playingup (lately, that is always) he will eat a few mouthfuls, then on the 5th or so will wretch and gag and spit it out. We then have this back and forth of a few spoonfuls/bites and it happens again. He is giving up about halfway through even though he's hungry. Have tried offering different temps/no lumps/all the faves, doesn't make a difference. Have tried teething remedies first, etc.
He isn't really gaining weight (not losing, just not gaining) and GP says is all fine.
I'm not, though. It's doing my head in. I'm 8 weeks pg as well, so perhaps overly sensitive. Ideas?

Hello turtle I get this with my DS too. I end up just offering little and often, and making what I do offer high calorie (so lots of butter on toast, cheese sauces etc) Once the tooth is through and he is used to it being in his mouth, he seems okay again. It was particularly bad when he acquired 3 teeth in 4 days as it was as if he just couldn't manage with all those extra teeth crowding his mouth!

Weight gain really really slows down now so you should definitely not worry about that. My DS gained only 200g in the last 3 months - partly because he learnt to crawl so is suddenly burning off so much more energy.. As P is so active now with walking and running, it's understandable that there isn't really much weight gain. I think it is only a problem if they start losing.
