Anybody had a dreadful time weaning first child (BLW) but second child much easier?

DD is now nearly 2.5 years and she was a nightmare to wean. Started off with purees which she quickly didn't want to eat so did BLW. Well BLW wasn't the great weaning experience for us, she has only really started eating a slightly wider range of foods at over 2 years old in any quantity. I BF her until she was nearly 2 as she was not eating alot of solids, but self weaned when I was pregnant. Cutting down BFing did not improve solids at all.

I spent nearly 2 years throwing a huge amount of food away, eventually I got depressed as I felt I was failing in getting my DD to eat. DD will still choose not to eat rather than eat something she doesn't like the look of no matter how hungry she is.

DS a few weeks away from weaning yet but I'm so stressed about it.Anybody had a much better experience weaning a second child? Did you do anything differently. I had not choice but to do BLW as my DD still hates mush and mixed up food but tempted to go the puree route as don't want to be BFing a 10 month old 10 times a day because they won't eat solids!

I posted a few weeks ago asking for advice as my dd, now 3yrs is still such a fussy eater. My ds however, now 20mnths, eats anything and everything, (apart from milk!) and did right from the start.

I'm not convinced this difference has anything to do with how I went about weaning them, think it's just how they are.

Having said that I was a little more relaxed with ds. With dd I was very concious of only giving her 'healthy' foods, nothing with sugar, any salt etc. With ds I decided the odd chocolate biscuit or organix crisps wouldn't do any harm. Perhaps this more relaxed attitude helped? He now loves his fruit and veg whereas my dd won't touch the stuff!

Hope your ds turns out to be a little easier to wean and enjoys his food.
