Tripp Trapp or Svan? Could LO sit at a counter in either?

Hi All,

I want to do BLW with my ds and would like him to be able to sit with us to eat. We don't have room for a table in or kitchen so we eat at a little breakfast bar which is the same height as the work surfaces. Would the TT or Svan sit ds up high enough to eat at the counter with us??

TIA

The Tripp Trapp isn't high enough I'm afraid and I believe the Svan is more or less the same height. Sorry.

I don't really know what to suggest (short of making a TT/Svan higher by screwing blocks under the feet)

You could get one of those seats that clips to the counter top - wagamamas use them. Hang on...

Like this. Avert your eyes from price of the Fresco chair on that site!

Oh yeah . I've got one of those for out and about, 'tis fab! There are plenty on the market but I (randomly) went for the Chicco Caddy Hook On Chair.

Thanks all. Will think about the clip on seat.

We had the same problem. I don't trust those clip on seats, as I have seen one fail (it was the table top that gave way, not the clip). We ended up with a Mamas and Papas "Loop". Pricey, but a good height and easy to wipe clean. I also like that it swivels, so I can turn it/DS round easily so he can see me elsewhere in the kitchen.

Loop

Hmm, we BLWed and I started off with a 'fancy' highchair and it was a nightmare, truly horrendous in day to day use because of the difficult of cleaning all the nooks and crannies. 'twas this, not massively dissimilar from BikeRunSki's one...

In the jojomamanbebe catalogue yesterday I saw something that raised the height of the high chair from the bottom - would that work?

pixsix · 10/04/2009 11:17

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I have the same worries about the clip-on seat especially being high up at the counter with a slate floor to land on. I do know people who have them and really like them though. Cleaning is another issue, I want it to be as easy as possible.

I think we have decided to start eating at a table in the other room and get the Tripp Trapp. We like the idea of buying a chair that will last and a Norwegian friend recently told me that her family has a TT that is still going strong and serving a new generation 33 years after it was bought for her brother! Hopefully it will be worth the money and one day I'll use it for my grand children!!

Thanks again all, I'm sure I will soon be back with more BLW questions.

Sounds like the best way forward to me

I love our TT, it's serving a second generation now too!

Oh, but don't waste your money on the cushions.
