i never used a mouli for weaning

i don't even know what one is

CMOTdibbler · 07/04/2009 22:02

You don't need one. Honestly

I bought an Annabel Karmel grinder thing but never used it. A cheap hand blender does the job just as well.

Ohforfoxsake · 07/04/2009 22:05

you can have mine. Big stainless steel thing with 3 blades. Annabel Karmel made me get it. In VGC from Lakeland. Used for DC1 to puree up (and seperate pith and fibres) from his organic, steamed, homemade baby purees.

DC4 went straight onto fishfingers

Seriously, if you want it, pay for postage and its yours. But really, a stick blender is all you need.

MumOeufMonsters · 07/04/2009 22:07

oh - i have 3 DC btw

only ever used a hand held food blender thingy and even that didn't last long for poor DS3! He ended up just grabbing off someone elses plate!

Thanks folks........
So a blender will do the job and break up all the husks???
Have you just saved me from purchasing another unneccesary gadget??? Great!!!
Was terrified my baby would choke....scrapped lots of peas in the bin tonight after considering picking out all the husky bits....
I am so sleep deprived I can't work it out??? Will get the blender out.......

Hi my son is 7 months (30 weeks to be exact) and I have weaned him from about 21 weeks. I give him a wide variety of home cooked meals from the Annabel Karmel baby and toddler planner but I am a bit confused when it comes to sweetcorn. I am getting on fine with a hand held blender or a masher but I read that you need a mouli to get rid of the outer husks on sweetcorn.

I have just this minute made a recipe with cauliflower, sweet red pepper and sweetcorn and have blended the dish using a hand blender. The husks are still in the dish but don't seem to be a choking hazard. Basically I'm asking do I really need a mouli for this? Will it do my baby any harm having a little bit of sweetcorn husk in his dinner?

I like my mouli, you can use it for soup and mashed potato as well. But it's just a plastic one I bought in France for about 10 euros. They are about £12 on ebay Shock

here you go

get a hand blender or just give them finger food, children will not be injured by the skin of a pea... Wink
