Food comes straight out the other end. Is this normal?

We're doing purees and finger food. Started a fortnight ago. Baby fully BF before. She's 6.5 months corrected, 8.5 actual.

Anything that gets swallowed (not much) and doesn't get puked out (hardly anything), comes out the other end after 10-20 minutes, and it is like water (TMI!). It goes everywhere. Out of the nappy in all directions, through her clothes, onto my clothes. Then we get more after an hour or so.

I thought poos were meant to get firmer not runnier.

Nobody has mentioned this happening with their baby, should I be worried? Should I be giving her different food? I haven't given her anything weird, just fruit and veg. Or is it totally normal and I'm asking a really silly question?!

The health visitor today said to try her with meat?

could it be that the purees are too runny or that so far you have only offered food high in fibre? Try some banana or yoghurt, I would also offer some cereal.

i would not give her meat if she is not digesting fruit and veg

i would stop with solids for a few days and see what happens

if she carries on throwing up and having runny poo, it is a bug

also, she might not be quite ready for food and nothing bad will happen if she has milk only for a few days

My baby is also 6.5 months old and fully BF previously. We are in our third week of food - purees mainly although quite thick ones (i.e. I add baby rice to pear puree to thicken it) compared to, say, the Ella's ones.

She had her first "solid" poo today - took a little bit of straining too, poor bubs! Before this it was still quite runny and we had a few nappy explosions as well. I think it just takes time for the digestive system to get used to new things and a couple of the books I have read suggests it is more difficult for BF babies.

I wouldn't try meat yet either...just on the basis that it sounds like she has some adjusting to do without having that thrown into the mix. I am planning to wait a few more weeks until I try meat as well.
