hi i have a 10 month old ds and wanted to introduce him to a variety of finger foods but am not sure how big they should be. i have a really severe phobia of choking but do not want to hold my son back. i feel bad already for not doing it sooner. i have explained my phobia to hv who promised to help but i am still waiting 2 months later. so am hoping i could get some advice off some experienced mothers. thankyou

About the same size and shape as a chip.
FWIW, my ds choked more on purees than proper food. Your ds'll probably love it.

Have you tried him on rice cakes? They disintergrate quit well.

quite (doh!)

I meant to say earlier, but was feeding baby so couldn't type too much. I didn't offer my ds1 finger foods until he was about 9/10 months either, once I'd started, I really wished I'd done it sooner. It was soo much easier than purees.
I found this website very helpful for ideas and recipies

I think it depends how dextrous your DS is. I started on chip shaped stuff with my DS (now 9.5 months) when he could only grab things in his fist and eat what was sticking out (if you see what I mean?).

Recently he has learned how to open his hand and get at stuff in there, so now he prefers things that are mouthful sized so he can pick them up and pop them in.
