6 month old not interested in solids

I am trying to start my 6 month old DD2 on solids but she refuses to open her mouth. If I can get the spoon in she moves it around her mouth properly and swallows it without any problems. She will lick pear puree off her lips but won't open her mouth. I have tried feeding before her 11.30 am bottle etc but that doesn't help. I have tried apple, pear, sweet potatoe, squash and carrot, not interested!
Should I persevere? I didn't have this problem with DD1, always had mouth open!

try her with finger foods when she isn't hungry.

I had the same problem but just kept offering and gave her finger foods to play with in the mean time. She will get a taste for it soon!

DD1 started at 20 weeks so think I have forgotten about finger foods. thought she would have to be older, but I suppose she is much older than DD1 was, she is 28 wks now. What sort would you suggest? sorry if I sound useless, purees for such a long time with DD1 as she was so much younger when we started!

she can have pretty much anything as long as you watch for things high in salt, so no ready meals or processed food. you should also avoid honey and whole nuts.

the food you offer doesn't have to be traditional finger foods either, just food really..as long as you don't mind a bit of mess.

so just hand over a bit of normal every day food..

cooked veg
quartered fruit
buttered toast
pasta twirls
a sandwich
cottage pie

as long as you have no allergies in the family then really just go for it.
