DS previously eating well now refusing loads of things

I'm not sure what is going on. DS, nearly 8 months, was eating fabulously, 3 meals a day, not BLW but happily eating all sorts of lumpy stuff and different flavours, for the past few days has started refusing things he was fine with before.

I thought it might be his teeth (he has been showing signs of teething for months but still no teeth), so tried just offering cold things but that doesn't seem to be it - rejected cucumber sticks etc, and then decided some warm pasta was ok. But it's not purely an independence thing either as when he WILL eat something he'll happily take it off the spoon for a while (as opposed to grabbing the spoon, which he was tending to do at the end of a meal when he was feeling fuller I think).

Is this just a normal stage? Or is it teething or something else? What do I do? Do I keep offering different things or just try the things I know he'll eat for a few days? I know I need to seem relaxed about it and not force anything but I'm just not sure what to offer and whether to return to things he's rejected or what...?

Stick at it, if he's hungry he'll eat!

Where is the anxious mummy emoticon?

fret not - my ds ate anything and everything enthusiastically for the first months and then became much more choosy and seemed to eat relatively little compared to his previoud self and other kids but i just kept offering him a good choice and he has returned to quite a few things. He still eats what I consider to be very little but is a full of energy 2.5 year old now who is willing to try new foods and likes helping me cook, but is also very ready to tell me what he does NOT want to eat!

ps - yes be relaxed and don't worry if he eats the same thing for days in a row!

Thanks fairy! Will keep offering, and maybe try some of the things he didn't like a few weeks ago again.

My dd (10 months) went through a wee fussy stage for a few weeks. She's back to normal now so I suppose it was something developmental.

I agree with what everyone else has said.
