Feel like I've lost the plot introducing solids

Would really appreciate some advice. Exclusively breastfed DD to 6 months and still bfeeding on demand (DD now 7 months). Started introducing solids at 6 months - puree route (spoon-feeding chosen as DD on anti-fit medication which can be given as granules on food - a huge relief after having spent the previous two months syringing the previous medication into a screaming baby twice daily). Started slowly with fruit/veg, baby cereal once a day, then after a couple of weeks twice/three times a day. DD got very windy and constipated, cranky, watery eyes, crying more than usual and then last week was violently sick for an afternoon. Decided to cut back to two meals a day and take it more slowly and DD has since been much happier. Saw HV today though who told me that she should be on three meals a day and that from 6 months solid food is her main source of nutrition. Left feeling like I was malnourishing my child.
I guess my question is how quickly do you build up the amount of food you give and the types of food - meat, fish, dairy etc.

yuor HV is not correct really. at 6 months your baby should be having some solid foods, possibly just finger foods, or a mix of mashed/pureed food and finger foods

milk is the best source of nutrition and should be the main source for the first year or so.

take it at the pace yoru child can go at and rest assured that with breast milk and some food, and not pushing your baby to eat more, she will find her own way with food

and at this stage give mikl before solids

I think you have to follow what your baby wants tbh.
Your hv doesn't know your baby and they are all different. I think she has given you slightly incorrect information though as milk is their main source of nourishment for the first 12 months and solids are all about learning and experiencing new tastes and textures so I wouldn't worry at all.
My ds was on 3 solid meals within a week, he loved it so much which resulted in me reducing milk very quickly and now at 19m, he'll have 1 cup a day if I'm lucky!
Just go with what your baby wants and she'll be fine.

I have two free hands now!!

DS3 is 6 months next week and in the last week i have tried to offer him so solid food - baby rice, pureed apple, small bits of brocolli - but he just isn't interested. I am going to give it another week and try again

in theory, for the first year or 2, solids are more of a supplement to breast milk rather than a substitute for it. Do try to increase gradually the amounts of solids but let your DD go at her own pace.

I introduced dairy almost immediately and meat and fish were rarely offered before 10-12 months, but maybe you can introduce them earlier to make sure you offer a balanced meal.
