The Ikea Antilop is good I believe. It's plastic so really easy to clean.

NorktasticNinja · 25/02/2009 12:54

Ikea antilop or stokke tripp trapp, both are fab and easy to clean too. In an ideal world I'd use the Antilop of the first 3-6 months and then move over to the tripp trapp. That said the tripp trapp would be fine from the start too.

homicidalmatriach · 25/02/2009 12:55

Antilop - can be plonked in dishwasher sans legs!

houseofpink · 26/02/2009 12:10

i weaned my first 2 girls in the tripp trapp, and am attempting babyled weaning with my 3rd in the ikea antilop. very cheap and soooo easy to clean, just dosn't look as smart. also, seems to support them better from an early age.

AitchTwoOh · 26/02/2009 12:11

lol, antilop or tripp-trapp all the way. veeeeeeery different in price.

sweetkitty · 26/02/2009 12:13

Another vote for the Ikea Antilop too, I had a big M&P highchair for DD1 and 2 and hated it, it had crevices that were never clean, Antilop is fab, always looks clean. You can get a blow up insert which support them for the first month or so, DD3 had is up until last week (about 7 months) it's quite cheap so good for the first month when they are still wobbly.

messageinabottle · 26/02/2009 12:13

vote for antilop here
about £15 all in iirc

wastingmyeducation · 26/02/2009 12:17

I've got both! One was a gift. Guess which one I payed for?

Antilop is much easier to clean than Tripp Trapp.

weblette · 26/02/2009 12:18

Antilop, no question. We never used the blow-up insert, didn't need it.

babyphat · 03/03/2009 10:46

i LOVE my antilop! so glad dissuaded MIL from tripp trapp. didn't bother with the insert either. sort of wish i got the tray though

bluebump · 03/03/2009 10:53

Another person with an Antilop with the insert and the tray. Am really pleased with it for the money.

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 10:58

I use a trip trap for ds 2. He's straight at the table and always has been. I then wipe the table and it's all done with. I would say watch the trip trap as my lovely second son has managed to tip it over! We started with the back support but have taken it out. We are planning to use it till he leaves home as it adapts as they grow and turns into an adult chair. Will get another one for ds 3 (expected at the mo) and ds 1 wants one too!

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 10:59

just looked at the antilop and it does look fab but it's too big with the legs for our kitchen...

great price though

ipanemagirl · 03/03/2009 15:51

I just bought this one babydan for dd % months but am suddenly nervous about having no tray! I had a tray with ds. It must be much messier without a tray?
I'm wondering whether to change it!
But those tripp trapp table top trays look good but for £45? I wonder if there's anything cheaper?
Sorry to butt in OP!

ipanemagirl · 03/03/2009 17:07

bump

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 17:29

Having used a tray for ds 1 and no tray for ds 2 we find no tray much easier. With ds 1 we found he was always away from the table and not quite part of the meal. Our breakfast area is also not big enough to have the high chair away from the table. It needs to tuck under the table.

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 17:32

we had this one when we had ds 1 thinking we would use it as a table and chair.

We didn't and it went straight into the garage never to be used again as we wanted ds 1 at the table with us!

ipanemagirl · 03/03/2009 17:36

thnx muppetgirl, so do you have some kind of splat mat on the table for your dss when they start picking up food themselves? Or a plate or something?

NorktasticNinja were you once the Duchess of Norks Bride?

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 17:48

no, absolutely nothing. I break up what we are having and place it straight onto the table. Yesterday we had sausage, carrots, potatoes and brocolli so it was all put on the table and he did a mixture of picking it up and stabbing it with his fork. He did go through a phase of throwing food when he had had enough so a friend suggested just putting little bits which works better. I love the fact that he's always eaten brocolli as brocolli and won't be phased by the greeness of it! I do use a spoon for cereals, custards, rice puddings etc but are going to start letting him have a go as he's doing well with his fork. Would have done spoon first but not had anything needing a spoon for a couple of days and he grabbed the fork and tried to feed himself which is exactly what I was after. He's great with it because he's ready for it!

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 17:48

...the table is trashed to hell though so we don't mind if it gets knocks with forks etc.

babyphat · 03/03/2009 18:41

ipanemagirl, i bought some oilcloth for the floor and an extra piece to put the food on...but she tried to eat that as well! so we are eating straight off the table for now. not really thought about what we'll do with more sloppy foods.

ipanemagirl · 03/03/2009 20:21

I'm really losing my nerve! but dh won't let me bf her exclusively for a year just coz I'm scared of the mess!
She's really nearly ready now I think, she's reaching out for it now.

muppetgirl · 03/03/2009 20:27

have a look at this thread

here

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 20:35

Have you looked at the Tchibo which is the cheaper version of the Tripp Trapp ?
DD just gets all her food put in a dish on the table , she then emptys the dish on the table
I just leave mine where the chair would be at the table.
