I no longer have an exclusively breastfed baby :(

...and I am a little tearful that my baby boy is growing up so fast but happy we got to 6 months exclusively breastfeeding with no problems this time around

We are doing BLW again, so our 6 month old DS has attempted to eat steamed brocoli, cauliflower and carrot for tea. He had a lot of trouble holding onto them, so we gave him stick shaped cucumber which he managed to hold and gum a bit.

I know DS was ready to start on solids and has been taking food off my plate for several weeks (mean mummy takes it off him)....so smelly poos here we come !!!

DD 21 months has dropped all but her bedtime feed. With the end in sight it does feel a bit strange that my little baby is so grown up.

TrinityRhino · 08/02/2009 20:26

aawww I remember feeling funny when gecko started being left to eat the stuff she had been stealing off my plate and was no longer exclusively bf

oh puzzle, I will feel very sad when that happens

tbh does not look like it is going to happen any time soon though

gecko was 2 yesterday and still bery much in love with 'boob'

as we speak she is stealing the strips of carrot andonion off my plate of chinese

bless her she says 'peez' whilst holding her hand over my plate......the first time and then when I have said yes she recjons its open season and digs in

PuzzleRocks · 08/02/2009 20:29

If I don't want to share a good third of my supper I wait to eat until she is in bed. It's always handy though to know that if she doesn't eat her own food she will certainly tuck into mine later.

TrinityRhino · 08/02/2009 20:33

yeah I know exactly what you mean
I owe it all to BLW

wish I heard about that when I had my first two

they both got stuck on purees till they were WELL over two one

and they are still very fussy now at 8 and 3

very fussy

whereas Gecko was stealing spicy chilli chinky off me tonight
likes fresh tomatos, cucumber, rice, sausage casserole, salmon, chilli con carne

all things my other two wont touch

she will dig into WHATEVER I have on my plate and THEN decide if she likes it

dd1 and 2 LOOK at stuff and go ewwwww

PuzzleRocks · 08/02/2009 20:43

Yep, she is certainly not fussy. It's great.

BabiesEverywhere · 08/02/2009 20:49

PuzzleRocks, That sounds so bittersweet. Enjoy DD's bedtime feeds

I should add that we are only introducing solids not dropping breastfeeds. I am still nursing his older sister at 2.6 and I expect to nurse him a similar length (if he wants too)

wow nursing two

what is that like?

If dd2 hadn't given up herself and fed as long as gecko is now then I would have been doing that

BabiesEverywhere · 09/02/2009 09:34

TrinityRhino,

I am not sure that to say. Nursing two is just normal everyday stuff for us. Just like nursing one, sometimes wonderful, sometimes not, always worthwhile

Awww so you went for it then?

BabiesEverywhere · 09/02/2009 09:49

TF,

Well after you had reminded me that DS was 6 months old, DH got all excited and said lets feed him today

We have film footage and photos of DS gumming cucumber. We'll bore entertain you with them on your next visit

Yay!!!

I'm sure he'll perform for me when I see him - I'll let you keep the nappy changes though

Can't wait to give your monster baby a cuddle

BabiesEverywhere · 09/02/2009 10:09

Of course you can have a cuddle of our one year old baby. We are doing toast with him atm

Maybe we'll get you pottying him instead !!!

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 09/02/2009 10:10

Perhaps it's best to leave the pottying to you - I remember what I crap job I did with your dd

BabiesEverywhere · 09/02/2009 10:11

Do you !!! I can't remember.

How are you feeling today ?

I remember trying and failing when I came to help out after your gall bladder op. Many, many wees not caught

Not too bad, off to bed in a sec for a snooze then I have to sort the house out before babysitter arrives (parents evening tonight and house is a shithole).

BabiesEverywhere · 09/02/2009 10:21

Tell the babysitter to shut her eyes and have a longer sleep...or if you have to clear up, just shove it behind the sofa.

All I remember from after my gall bladder op was pain and your lovely company
