Can I use stock cubes for a 10mo baby?

We have had risotto for tea made with an extra low salt Kallo stock cube. Do you think this is ok to give to a 10mo baby?

yes, especially if you used the low salt cubes (is it the ones with no added salt in the pale blue box?)

no worries - or make your own - much less martha stewart than it sounds

low salt will be fine

I think even extra low is too high for young children. Low salt cubes are usually for adults who want to reduce the intake of sodium. Babies kidneys aren't able to cope with much salt so no salt should be added to their food at all. here's an interesting link here
about how much they can have at different ages. Also remember that alot of foods that you don't add salt to still have a naturally low level of salt so the rissoto and all that's used to flavour it will add to the soalt load.

Boots do baby stock cubes. There are vegetable and chicken versions - making my own would be too much work for me.

it all depends how much does your LO eat. I think small quantities are fine provided you do not give him/her other salty food during the day. I have started using a bit more salt in cooking, although have a 1 year old. I am much more averse to other flavourings like MSG thou.
