BLW - do you buy organic?

My DD is 16 weeks and I would like to try BLW (though not for another couple of months atleast, so please dont panic!)

However I am on a really tight budget at the moment and dont know if I can afford lots of organic fruit and veg etc.

Also, do any of you BLW-ers do any purees/baby cereals, or is everything completely whole?

only what I'd buy organic anyway

and the point about BLW isn;t really about 'whole' things, it's about the baby feeding themselves
so puree is fine if she digs in with her hands, but steamed carrot sticks, pasta shapes etc are easier for her to pick up

and besides, if you;re on a budget baby cereals cost a fortune compared to real food.

No I rarely buy organic because I can't afford it. I do buy local though and will only buy free range/barn eggs and chicken.

I don't buy organic as i'm not convinced of the health benefits, I think it's more important to provide a range of tastes and textures than buy expensive organic food. I do buy organic dairy produce though, as I believe there's extra health benefits in organic milk.

Frasersmum - there was an article in the Observer last week about the new frugal organics - basically the idea is that you buy organic where it makes the most difference - so as MrsJamin says definately milk and cheese then meat, fish, apples (any fruit/veg with a skin and so on) theres lots of fruit and veg where the difference is less pronounced - will go off and try and find a link.

This isnt the one but a US version:

that's interesting GKS. The organic milk info is here- "It showed organic milk has higher levels of vitamin E, omega 3 essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which help beat infections."

I believe that organic milk is better as pesticides etc acculmulate in the fat of mammals. So when your child is 12months or older and is drinking lots of cows milk, organic is a good idea.
