9mo BLW throwing everything and very proud of his new skill. What do I do?

Lovingly prepared morsels end up 6 feet from table, DS nearly falls out of highchair in eagerness to see where food has ended up, dining room is probably a bio-hazard due to amount of ground-in food on floor

Any tips on how I handle it? Ignore it, say no, refuse to give more food, pick it all up and reoffer it for 30 mins then finish meal regardless of what he has eaten etc.?

He throws everything I give him for his main course except omelette, pasta and yorkshire pudding but always eats his fruit for dessert with hardly a crumb being thrown. I don't want to get into situation where he knows he can fill up on fruit, if he doesn't eat veggies, so do you think I should stop offering fruit as routine for now?

Thanks!

Ds is 17 months and can not only throw incredible distances, but has exellent aim. He eats v, v little.
No idea what to do. I have gone with the ignore and duck approach.
I'll be interested to hear if there is something you can do to avoid ending up in my position!
I've just been blushing reading about whether 7 month olds should be down to 3 bottles a day and wondering whether maybe 17 month olds should. Um yes...I thinks so, but then he would look like I'd just rescued him from a POW camp.

I didn't do BLW but DS was another Henry VIII with all unwanted food being tossed over his shoulder or thrown over the high chair.

I just ignored it as I had read this was the best thing to do. Twas quite funny on holiday as sharing with another family and it clearly drove the husband demented. But fast forward to DS at 3 yrs and we have no issues with him throwing food around, quite a few with him not eating it, but thats a completely different story ......

He's really too young to worry about his knowing he can fill up on fruit if he doesn't eat veggies, IMO. He's just at an age where throwing food is fun. Put veggies in sauce on the pasta and in the omelettes, give him those and plenty of fruit, and give him less of the chuckable stuff.

What is not chuckable?

HolidaysQueen · 12/01/2009 15:26

I'd love to know what is not chuckable too He even winkles out the bits of pepper and mushroom I put in his omelettes, and chucks those while retaining the egg!

Ds just chucks the lot and shouts moulch moulch moulch (milk)
