Antilop highchair - roughly how long did you use yours for?

Having bought a comfy, padded, reclining, all-singing all-dancing highchair, I have now realised that the Antilop I bought for DD to use at my MIL's house is a) far more practical in terms of cleaning and b) far better in size for her. She is nearly 9 months and was slumping in the chair I bought her, I had to wedge her in with towels! Yet she sits perfectly in the Antilop.
My question is, do I keep the larger one for when she is older? Will she get too big for the Antilop? How long were you able to use the Antilop with your LO? TIA

Mine still uses his at his grandma's house and he is nearly 2. I'd expect him to sit in it as long as he's in a highchair to be honest.

Having said that, his lovely padded chair at home is better for spending long periods of time in as I don't think the antilop is that comfy

Sorry, meant to say though that if you can take your expensive one back you might want to. Was trying to put a positive spin on things!

I had the padded monster for DD1 and 2 and hated it dor the reasons you have stated, have just bought an Antilop for DD3, do you realise if you take the legs and straps off you can put the whole thing in the dishwasher or even in the sink, how fab is that? My other one had WHITE unremovavle straps.

I have used an Antilop up until DD2 no longer needed a highchair she was fine in it at 2 1/2, I suspect it will be the same with DD3.

I also have a booster seat so expect DD3 to go into it once DD2 comes out of it, then you don't need to have a highchair around the table at all.

Thanks
It wasn't expensive (phew), just it takes up loads of room. I've had it for a while and just assumed all highchairs were much the same size and she'd "grow into it" Way too much food in the straps to take it back! Oh, the joys of BLW!
She seemed comfy enough in the Antilop when we were at the in-laws over Christmas - think she was too excited by all the food to care!!
Great to hear that your 2 year old is still in his - thanks

My 13 year old is still using her trip trap as a desk chair. Probably the most economical thing we have ever bought in terms of uses per £1!

ToastAddict · 04/01/2009 22:50

Thanks sweetkitty - wow at dishwasher, had no idea!! but it is so amazingly easy to clean anyway. My padded monster also has non-removable straps - what were the manufacturers thinking?

Toastaddict - I love the Antilop so practical, I think it would be the ultimate highchair oh if could be folded away in a drawer when not in use.

Must be men that design the padded monsters or someone who has never had to clean dried on mashed banana, porridge and carrot from a highchair!

ToastAddict · 04/01/2009 22:55

Thanks Seeker, I would love a tripp trapp, but we just don't have space, our kitchen is too small to have the highchair permanently up. I need something I can collapse or take to pieces - the Antilop is a bit more of a faff than the other one I have which folds, but then it is a damn sight easier to clean and DD sits better in it. But I see where you're coming from in terms of value for money

I love my Antilop, but we've been bought a Trpp Trapp for Christmas! Wouldn't have bought a padded type reclining highchair, I hate using them in restaurants. I'm going to keep the Antilop for taking out to eat if needs be. It is easier to clean than the Tripp Trapp, but DS seems to sit better in the Tripp Trapp. If I had to buy one, it'd be the Antilop though, just can't be beaten on price!

ds (2.3 years) doesnt use his antilop any more as a highchair but does sit in it to get his hair cut so it does have more than one use . He has been on a booster seat since about 18 months.

cmotdibbler · 05/01/2009 12:56

We have a TT for DS, but also an Antilop for travel purposes and visitors. DS is a large 2.7 yr old, and still fits in the Antilop OK

HolidaysQueen · 05/01/2009 13:51

I'm interested in this as my 9mo DS is in an Antilop at the moment (loves it, as do we!) Good to know they last for a good while. We put it in the dishwasher even with the straps - gets all the manky bits out of the straps and buckle as well!

Anyway, a couple of times in restaurants he has used a Handysitt and seems really happy in it, so I think we'll get one of those for when we're at GPs and he may graduate to that at home as well so that he is sat at the table like us when he is old enough to notice that.

DD uses an Antilop at my mums: she's 2.5.
