have just made lentil soup - DS loves lentils - he's almost 7mths - can he have soup? Used reduced salt stock to make soup, but is it still dangerous?

It depends how much you are planning on giving him. The whole pot would not be a good idea, a small bowl should be fine. Reduced salt does often have chemicals in it to replace the salt, it's the same with sugar and artificial sweetners, sometimes it's better to just have the normal salt/sugar in lower quantities.

Boots do organic vegetable and chicken stock cubes for making baby food and that's what I use when stock is needed. I think you are okay if you are giving it as a one-off. My DS is 10 months and one meal in every few days, he gets what we have so I can get him used to 'normal' food (of course I make sure I don't go crazy on the salt/sugar when I prepare the meal if I intend to give him a portion of it!).

One option is simply to use water and herbs instead of stock when making your soup .

I didn't use any stock when weaning- DS didn't notice the difference obviously! I'd just add water and herbs.

One of those bouquet garni things is quite good to add flavour, just remember to take it out before you serve the soup!
