getting emotional about poo! :-)

ds2 just started chewing some bits of stuff this week and i have just changed his first not-entirely-bf nappy! there were definitely bits of banana in it

part of me is so proud of my little man growing up and the other part is thinking 'oh, he's not going to be my baby much longer'

i know it's far from the end of bf for us but... we're not having any more so i think i'm just watching his progress with just a hint of sadness... soon he'll be charging around saying 'i don't want you, i want daddy!' like his big brother...

Ah bless you I got all emotional about my DS's first solid poo as well, so I know how you feel!

wastingmyeducation · 19/11/2008 13:28

Oh, I know what you mean, that was me last Sunday, inspecting the lumps of carrot, in my no-longer exclusively bf baby boy's nappy. So proud of him though!

xx

I felt the same... I miss her 100% breastfed poos!

asicsgirl · 19/11/2008 15:22

there's something a bit frightening about poos that suddenly smell of 'proper' poo, isn't there. i remember finding this quite a shock with ds1!

I think the veggie/fruit poos dont smell too bad... I suspect it gets worse when they start on dairy and meat, I'm not looking forward to those!

ExtraFancy · 19/11/2008 15:29

Oh yes

My DS is 17mo and at least once a day he does a nappy that leaves me seriously considering putting him back on an exclusive BF diet...yikes

asicsgirl · 19/11/2008 16:15

lol extrafancy

and all that mess.. bf is just so tidy by comparison isn't it

my ds1 once did one by the side of a swimming pool that was as big as her arm. I kid you not. 5 years later and her godfather still talks about it!!!

crokky · 19/11/2008 18:13

My DD is now 7m and the day we weaned her, I (only half jokingly) said to DH, "this is her last breastmilk only nappy, you have to smell it". Me and DH were laughing and then DS (age 2) came and stuck his nose in the nappy and started sniffing it!!!!

TortillaDeMaiz · 19/11/2008 19:40

In my case it has been so much easier to clean the 'solid food nappies' that I already got used to it.

MadameOvary · 21/11/2008 11:53

I know what you mean
We are all gloriously, happily weird!

BrokenliSpears · 21/11/2008 11:55

I thought it was just me who felt nostalgic and emotional about bf poo!

Spaceman · 21/11/2008 11:57

I found a two inch green bean in my DS's nappy two weeks ago when I began baby led weaning. I've scaled the baby led thing down a bit as it's scary, and am now putting tiny roast dinners in the blender.

EyeballsintheSky · 21/11/2008 11:57

You're not kidding. DD's nappy just now was the only thing to permeate my exceedingly blocked nostrils for the last three days!

MadameOvary · 21/11/2008 15:10

BF-only nappies are quite sweet and milky, whereas the weaned ones have such an amazing variety of smells and textures. Sometimes there is this little lump of what looks like green plasticine, but most times there is this two-toned oddity in there.

I also miss excl BF as DD is so much windier with all that fruit and veg in her diet, poor thing! She does some fantastic farts tho
