Veggie Crackers. Why 12 months??

I bought dd some Heinz(I think) veggie crackers for afternoon snacks.

I bought them without thinking to check for age guidelines (She's 7.5 months and eats everything so don't think to look)

Looking at the pack it says "only suitable for babies over 12 months"

Why would this be? I can't see anything wrong with the ingredients list.

In my experience the 'not for under 12 months' is because the food is quite hard so without teeth they might find it more difficult to eat. I give my 8 month old dd those sorts of crackers and just watch her more carefully than I might do with softer rusks.

Thanks. I also bought her some Organix gingerbread which she absolutely loves and they're very hard.

Might try them and just watch her closely.

That sounds as if I just leave her to it if it's soft food - obviously I don't

That's exactly what I've just bought my dd and she loves them! She sucks and sucks and sucks them until they go all soft (and gross!) and then bites them (if they haven't already disintergrated onto the floor/sofa/table, etc!
