I've discovered an unexpected bonus with this blw lark

ds (2 1/2) is eating loads more than before!!! It takes dd a good 30-40 mins to eat and ds doesn't want to leave the table and miss out on my attention, so stays ages and keeps asking for extra food. I reckon it's probably good for our digestion to sit at the table for a while after we've finished eating too.

We like this BLW lark although DD has started building barriers around her plate with cereal packets to avoid extra stuff landing on it courtesy of DS (11 mo). She once insisted on sitting underneath the table as she was fed up of getting extra airborne servings.

SBUE - it's definitely good for everyone to eat slowly, I was encouraged by this news article a few weeks ago as DS (10 MO, BLWed) eats slowly too, I like it that he doesn't just wolf it down like puree babies. Although it can get pretty boring if you have just one child when it's just you and them on a weekday.

I sometimes find it a pain if I'm in a hurry to pick ds up from nursery and don't just shovel a bowl of puree down and know that she's been fed, but I'm certain it's better for her digestion, coordination and longer term relationship with food to eat this way and like I say we're all benefitting from more sociable, slower meal times
