Ideas for late afternoon snacks please

DS is 13 months old and at nursery 3 days a week while I'm at work. He gets breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The nursery give him dinner at 16:00 so I usually offer him something when he comes home at around 17:30ish.

So I'm looking for some ideas please for quick snacks as quite often he doesn't really want much, but occasionally (if he hasn't eaten much at nursery) he's quite hungry. The usual things I give him are either banana (a favourite of his) or porridge with a little bit of honey in it.

I'd like to be able to offer him something a bit more exciting, but something that won't take too long to make and that could maybe be kept until the next day if he isn't that hungry.

TIA

What about a couple of breadsticks dipped in philly or even some Cheerios in a little pot?

dd is 14m but nursery only do 'tea' eg sandwiches and fruit, so I offer her an actual meal (with protein in) rather than a snack when we get home.

Usually it's last night's leftovers - pasta, meatballs, chicken etc, or sometimes I do scramnbled egg or cheese on toast depending what she's had at nursery that day. Sometimes she doesn't fancy it but often she's ravenous.

Thanks for the ideas - cheese on toast sounds good because then if he doesn't eat it I can

Those mini pasta stars are great because they cook so fast. Mine liked them with pesto, or cream cheese, or grated cheddar, or all three.

If you can be bothered to prepare in advance, you can roast loads of veg - onions, peppers, aubergines, fennel etc. - and blitz them in blender/processor with tin tomatoes and herbs and then freeze in small portions. That can be served with pasta, couscous, baked potato, rice, any carb really.

Or a smackerel on toast is always good - cheese (with marmite underneath, yum), peanut butter, egg mayo, boiled egg and toasty soldiers

If you eat meat, keeping any leftover cooked chicken, ham etc. is always handy.

uneaten scrambled egg makes a good sandwich filling the next day

my 10 MO DS loves to gnaw at corn on the cob in the afternoon - I boil one and then cut it up into 3, keeps for a few days in the fridge so it's pretty easy.
