Any reason why babies can't eat grown up porridge?

DD is 8 months and not keen on breakfast. Is there any reason why she shouldn't eat the same porridge as me (made with fat cows' milk)rather than special baby stuff (which tastes very bland to me) she's a good chewer. I obviously wouldn't give her the golden syrup the I have!

I've been giving DS ordinary porridge with whole cows milk from about 7 months (he's 10 months now) and he really likes it. He didn't like baby porridge either - don't blame him really, it looks like wallpaper paste! I sometimes grind it slightly in the mortar and pestle to make it less lumpy, but he'll eat it either way. It's lovely with a bit of mashed banana or stewed apple.

DS has never had anything other than grown-up porridge (or any other type of food, for that matter).

We did BLW so made porridge 'pancakes' like dizzy described so it was easy for him to pick up.

ds doesn't do lumps very well, so we use ready brek, and i like the fact that it had added vitamins - there isn't any added salt or sugar. The rest of us eat normal porridge.
