Weaning and extra cost

I was just thinking that if dd is going to be on full fat everything and if we buy low fat everything, then we are a) going to have to buy double e.g cheese, milk, butter and b) have a lot of waste? Is there any way to get round this as we are trying to save money and I don't want to be eating full fat everything as already too lardy for my own liking .

If she's eating it then it won't be wasted! I've just started buying full fat milk for DS (18m, I should have done it before...) and actually it's quite nice, it means that 'my' milk doesn't get drunk down anywhere near so fast! And butter and cheese last for ages, so they shouldn't go bad before she's finished them.

it's only milk that has to be full fat

There shouldn't be a lot of waste or extra cost really. I suppose it depends if you buy loads 'baby products' (jars, rusks, special rice cakes and goodness knows what) or just go with fresh ingreedients.

As far as the full fat dairy goes, you can buy small quantities of cheese from the cheese counter. Tiny portions and small packs of butter are pretty easy to find too. Oh, and you can freeze milk so that shouldn't be an issue either.

I've not done purees, but I haven't had much waste or extra cost with BLW. I think I have spent more on fruit than I would normally but that's good for all of us

it should all be full fat.

you only need buy the amount she'll eat. so it isn't a waste is it? you're just buying her food.

do you just mean the faff of picking up a blue milk as well as a red milk, or a full fat yoghurt as well as a ski yoghurt?

I suppose I am thinking that it will go off if I have to buy a big block of cheese/pack of butter etc before she can eat it. Good idea to get small bits of cheese from the counter and just thought that you can get those little pots of philadelphia. I think I will just have to look properly in the supermarket.
