Are petit filous ok for a 7 month old?

Tried DS on these yesterday as he is nearly 7 months and doing fairly well with his veg purees and finger food. Annabel Karmel says yogurt is ok after 7 months but now worried that Petit Filous is full of sugar and other nasties! Can anyone recommend a better brand, maybe organic? DS LOVED it though!

I used to get DD plain Yeo Valley yoghurt and mix in some fruit puree.

You can make your own, Yeo Valley are good yogurts, a plain one with some mushed up fruit. Then you know what's in it.

Yep, we used plain yogurt and mixed in puree. Yeo Valley is easy to get hold of and rather lovely, or Total grrk, but I don't think it is organic?

thanks all. Will try Yeo Valley. Do you think Petit Filous if full of rubbish? Worried I've given DS a sweet tooth!

Don't worry.

I started mine on Petits Filous at 4 months, and they are not hoody-wearing drug addicts (yet). I wouldn't give it a moment's thought!

nickytwoooohtimes · 25/10/2008 20:15

No, don't worry! Get over to BOunty and see tha real crap people give their kids!
Btw, I went out of my way to not give ds a sweet tooth and now at the age of 2 he will still sell his soul for a bit of biscuit, lol!

luvaduck · 25/10/2008 20:15

or try little rachel's first yoghurts

nooOOOoonki · 25/10/2008 20:15

just full of sugar

my two DS's adore yeo valley with honey/jam/berries/ anything - much cheaper too.

My 12 DSS still likes it too.

I've been giving my dd muller's little stars - less ingredients then petitsfilous. having said that my mum gave her activia (prune flavoured) last week when she was staying with them - not nice on the nappy believe me!!

spicemonster · 25/10/2008 20:19

rachels and little dish are sugar free - rachel's are organic but little dish aren't

mejon · 25/10/2008 21:06

Sainsburys own brand fromage frais - the big pots and the little ones are made with fruit juice rather than added sugar. Their yogurts used to be too until for some strange reason they decided to 'improve' them by replacing the fruit juice with sugar some months ago.

Bloodystumperlicious · 25/10/2008 21:15

I always recommend the sainsbo's kid's ones too, but also recommend natural yoghurt. DD loves it and it's such a sweet treat.

BouncingTurtleSkulls · 26/10/2008 11:39

I just use full fat greek yoghurt and mix it with a bit of fruit puree (the ones with no added sugar, or you can make it yourself). DS loves this. Or I get the Rachel's Organic my first yoghurt.

It's not necessary to fill yoghurts full of sugar so I don't buy the petite filous, muller littler stars etc., though the odd one now and again won't do any harm IMO. I just wouldn't give them on a regular basis.
