Hi
I've not posted here before but am going a little crazy as my almost 5 month old has decided not to take his evening bottle again.
I tend to breastfeed him 3 hourly throughout the day, at 630pmish give him a bottle then breatfeed again around 930pm. I have been giving him fruit for breakfast and veg for lunch. Prior to starting weaning he was sleeping through the night but now he is waking up and as I say wont take his bottle - at the moment he is just crying and getting so angry, it is so upsetting to hear.
Any advice would be gratefully received
Thanks
Lesley

I am not at weaning stage yet, bub is only 13 weeks but my friend swears by the Lorraine Kelly book baby and toddler eating plan. She has recommended it to all her mates who also say it's fab. I bought the book yesterday from WHSmith for a fiver.
It has recipes and tips on how to get started and has daily plans, it seems easy to follow. Sorry can't offer any advice from experience. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply, I guess my main problem is him refusing his bottle and therefore he is now not sleeping through, im not sure if it's because he is full from the food or because he is over tired or that he doesnt like his bottle anymore. Any tips?

He's a bit young yet, why don't you forget weaning for a bit and stick to milk, it's all he needs at the moment.

Seona1973 · 23/10/2008 19:54

have you tried giving a breastfeed instead? - that way you would know whether the issue was the bottle itself.

Bezagirl · 23/10/2008 20:30

Hi Thanks Seona
He went through a phase before where he would only have my milk, I so hope he isn't going through that phase again. He went to sleep pretty much as soon as he was put down so didn't try tonight, but if he refuses it again tomorrow I'll see if he will take some breast milk. I think we are all out of kilt with his day time sleeping too so perhaps he was just too tired to take any - who knows, it's such a guessing game isn't it???

Is he 20 weeks by any chance? They all seem to become devil children a bit difficult for a week or two around then.

Not usually anything to do with being hungry, tis probably because just when you are thinking you have got the hang of the baby thing Mother Nature decides to up the tricksy level a bit to keep you on your toes.

Bezagirl · 23/10/2008 20:41

Yep you've guessed it he is 20 weeks! I hope he will grow out of it fast - I'm so not used to waking up in the middle of the night now as he has been really good at sleeping from about 9 weeks. You are right though they certainly do like to keep us on our toes!
Thanks

My two started refusing bottles at 16 weeks, could just be that he wants you now cos he knows the difference.

TheGabster · 25/10/2008 20:55

And my two penneth worth ..... unfortunately I FF so not if its the same for BFing, but my LO always fusses over bed-time bottle when teething. Was always fine for dream feed (when we had it) as too sleepy to care. Dab of bongela sorts it out for us. Is it possible that's the answer?

Bezagirl · 26/10/2008 17:19

Thanks Gabster What is FF? I hadn't thought that it might be because of teething - I think he may be as really unsettled, dribbly, grizzly etc - I was up again last night, sigh!
Thanks everyone
