Anyone else giving cow's milk to DC's when they dont drink it themselves?

I dont drink cows milk for various reasons and when I gave it to DD in baby food she had terrible, screaming wind. This food also had wheat in it so maybe it was just too much for her. I've gone back to more simple purees and am still BF.
I DONT want to impose my neuroses on DD who is 7 months, just wonder if anyone else is in this position. Thanks!

I don't drink cow's milk. I haven't given ds cow's milk in a cup, but I have let him eat dp's milk-soaked cornflakes. What did you feed your DD that gave her wind? If you can't work out if it's milk or wheat, you can try food based on just one or the other.

I don't drink cows milk but ds has it, used to make porridge etc and since a year as a drink. He drinks gallons of it and certanly doesn't seem to notice that I don't have it.

I have a dairy allergy which was very severe as a child and less so (but still quite evident) as an adult. I kept each of my 3 dairy free until a year from when they went onto cows milk for porridge, yogurt, custard, as a drink etc. None of them are wild about drinking milk but will on occasion when they take a notion but happily consume it with no side effects in a wide range of other products.

The recommendation in a lot of European countries is to avoid all forms of cows' milk, except for yogurt and mature cheeses, until at least 1 year. I used bm or formula in porridge and the like until then.

I hate the stuff, can't even stand the smell when heated, but DD drinks it quite happily. Sometimes she goes for a stretch without touching the stuff but that's OK with me, she gets her calcium from veg, nuts etc.

Thanks everyone - my fear is that without cows milk DD wont get the necessary fats so I was wondering about goats milk. I will happily keep her dairy free until a year if possible - I eat loads of sheep and goat cheese so hopefully it will keep coming through in my BM.

For fats try adding vegetable oils to things. DD always had a teaspoon of olive oil added to all her savoury meals in the her first year, then when she got to 9mo we started on nuts and seeds. She had lots of avocado too (which sadly she will no longer tough).

Dairy fat is not very healthy fat anyway, you'd be better off long term encouraging a habit for non animal fats. Here, we're told to avoid "heavy" dairy (mascarpone, cream etc.) until 1yr as it's difficult to digest apparently. How true that is I don't know but stuff like that gives me tummy ache so I can only guess it's not too good for a tiny tum.

The fats in your bm should be more than sufficient at this age too. It's the optimum fat for man cubs.

That's good to know Brangelina - and it means I can continue to stuff my face
