do you mean organic, or with no fruit in it?

IHeartIona · 09/10/2008 21:32

Won't natural yoghurt do?

IHeartIona · 09/10/2008 21:33

I already give my dd nat yogurt (which she loves) but wanted to try fromage frais. are the fruity ones ok, i.e. not full of sugar/other rubbish?

Sainsburys sell Little Dish ones, which are organic and have no sugar in them.

the Petit Filous of this world are sadly filled to the brim with sugar

IHeartIona · 09/10/2008 21:39

great thanks will look out for the Little Dish ones!
yes I had heard about them - in the weaning class my clinic runs they said they have 3 teaspoons of sugar or something each . I used to eat them myself but now avoiding to minimise post-pregnancy tummy...

if your local sainsburys don't have the Little Dish ones try Waitrose or health food shops. I get them in Waitrose mostly, I think.

they're very nice

MrsFogi · 09/10/2008 21:46

Sainsburys etc only seem to do low fat ones (very annoying). You can find plain full fat fromage frais in Waitrose and rather fabulously they also sell faisselle. Both are stocked next to the creme fraiche.

IHeartIona · 09/10/2008 21:50

thanks. what's faisselle?

La Faisselle is the original recipe of the traditional draining fromage frais, made in the heart of France in the town of Rians (Loire Valley region). The word La Faisselle comes from the old French word for a cheese making colander. This fromage frais is hand ladled into traditional little basket ?la faisselle? in the same way it has been for the last 50 years. The basket you find inside this tub keeps the product fresh and moist. All you need do is drain and enjoy. It is pure, elegant and moist, unlike any other usual fromage frais. It is made with 100% natural ingredients, no preservatives, no additives. Contains B2 and B12 vitamins, bringing phosphorus and calcium, good for tonus and vitality. 6% Fat. So far, you can find la Faisselle exclusively in Waitrose in a 500g pot. You can eat it plain of course. It can be eaten as a tasty snack or dessert adding honey, fresh fruits or raspberry coulis. It can be easily used as an ingredient for many recipes or as a substitute for cottage cheese, greek yoghurt and crème fraîche.
