Ihad problems with dd all along, she would eat very little or nothing up untill 1year. Now she will not stop eating which I am very happy about.

But as I am a worrier just want to check the amount she is eating seems average?

I have stopped bf 3 weeks ago and she will not drink milk from a cup or bottle.

Breakfast 2 weetabix
Snack half a cracker or dijestive
Lunch Pasta with lots of veg in tomatoe sauce
Snack no junk crisps or veg and potatoe mixutre
Dinner veg and potatoe mixture with fish fingers or chicken
Also 2-4 yougharts throughout the day.

I seem to be constntly feeding her and if I eat a different dinner to her she acts sooo hungry like she has not eaten all day and has to eat some of mine too.

She does poo alot so maybe she is just pooing it all out. She will not eat fruit but I try to sneak it into her youghart...

I wouldn't worry as long as she's not eating rubbish, which it doesn't sound like she is. She may be growing very quickly at the moment and you may find her appetite tails off again.

that sounds about right to me, my dd went through huge growth spurt at this age plus thay are so much more active, running around etc. Would just go with it if she seems hungry all the time she probably is! As long as you are not giving her rubbish - which you are not. Toddlers are very much all or nothing and you might find in a couple of months she will slow down again and seem more picky XxX

Also if picky with fruit I find fruit pouches or smoothies for kids a good alternative, plus dry fruit and keep offering, my dd would sometimes refuse fruit one day but then wolf down the next!

cantpickyourfamily · 10/10/2008 09:22

it is good to know I am not feeding her way too much, I have tried fruit pouches and dried fruit which she will not eat but will keeep trying.

She has a little bit of smoothie when i have some so will keep trying with that...

Also the night I orginally posted dd woke up at 11pm and i could tell she was hungry so gave her a youghart, still hungry so gave another, still hungry so I gave her half a cracker and she ate it then went straight back to sleep.

if her weight is fine I wouldn't worry! My DD eats even more than that but is skinny!!

Elizap · 10/10/2008 14:51

I wish my 15 month old dd ate as much as that! She is going through a phase of refusing everything which is driving me crazy! Any tips on how to encourage her to eat again most welcome!! Also, how much water/juice are they supposed to be drinking a day? I read sopmewhere that at this age they should be getting almost a litre of fluids a day. that seems an awful lot to me. My dd drinks around 600 ml if that! anyone know?

Sounds about right to me. DS has...

Breakfast, Slice of toast small bowl porridge
Snack, Fruit or crumpet/muffin
Lunch, Pasta and veg and sauce, Banana
Snack, avacado, rice cakes
Tea, a huge portion of whatever we are having.

He alo has around 3-4 breastfeeds a day plus one or two beakers of soy milk.

he alo begs for anyrhing that we are eating throught he day and is always happy for a taste of anything. He is a tiny boy, just above 2nd centile but healthy and happy with hollow legs.

Elizap - i'm also not sure how much they should drink per day, my dd never drank hardly anything other than bf but has recently started drinking quite alot as stopped bf.

she drinks most of her juice before bed or when she wakes up at night time and nap time, so always offer it at nighttime.

Also dd only really started eating more when she was one, I think before I was so obsessed with giving her healthy food that she was not intrested.

So I started to let her have a little junk like chips and beans and she soon started to enjoy food.

Beans are not junk but not freshly made by me...
