Really struggling to get DS (12 months) to eat more solids and drop the bottle feeds

DS turned one last week - I know that he ought to be getting most of his nutrition from solid food now, and not milk, but we are really struggling to get him to eat more solids.

He has an 8oz bottle of milk on waking, and then has breakfast at nursery - apparently he eats a good amount of Ready Brek and toast, but then it all goes downhill from there.

He picks over lunch, then has to have another bottle early afternoon as he's so hungry that he gets upset. He has afternoon tea at nursery (crumpets/breadsticks/soup etc) which he eats OK, but then won't eat dinner when he gets home.

He has another large bottle before bed, but then wakes for 2 more bottles during the night! It's killing us at the moment, as I thought by a year we might be sleeping through the night.

Another problem is that he's still on formula, while I believe he should be on cows milk now - how do I go about the changeover?

These probably sound like really stupid questions!

Are there any feeding experts out there?

Regarding making the change from formula to cow's milk, I did it by adding a small amount of cow's milk to the formala and then just increasing the ratio day by day until it was all cow's milk. DD did not seem to notice the difference. I will be doing the same for DS in about 4 weeks and hopeit works as well as first time around.

Sorry not much advice about the meal issue except maybe he should skip afternoon tea in the hope that he will eat dinner. Also I would go cold turkey on the night feeds. It may mean a few sleepless nights until he is used to not getting milk at night but should improve his daytime appetite.
