my lil girl is still a hungry breastfeeder throughout the day and night. I would like to drop at least a few feeds but she is getting very upset about this... which is also distressing for me. She eats all solids really well and I am offering her food regularly and she drinks lots of water. She will also drink formula from a bottle but not a cup. She will drink milk from a cup but not whole-milk. Im feeling torn and a little worse-for-wear so would really appreciate any advice.

I've no idea but I'd like to know too. I am severely exhausted from ds feeding all night non stop (that's how it feels) I'm exhausted and can't go on like this indeffinately....getting desperate.

kiwibella · 03/09/2008 12:21

I think Ella K's might be these. Actually, I took some of the baby food with us when we were camping and they were so handy for Kate to have a snack as and when. She was scoffing one each day!!

It doesn't seem that being hungry is the cause of our round-the-clock feeders cos they all are eating food well.

Life is so much better today since we were up only once last night although she woke and fed as I went to bed so that's probably twice really. It is all such a mystery.

sorry, yes those are the ones, I use the stage 1 baby food ones (even now they are very popular). Found the sauces too acidic (and anyway they need to be cooked with other stuff) and the red/green/yello ones insubstantial. You don't need to warm them or anything, just off with the lid and stick it in their mouths. bit of supervision needed if you let them hold them alone as they are quite full and squeezing will result in quite a bit of mess! They are 89p (ish) each so not hugely cheap but oh so very handy.

good luck.

Oh I bet DS2 would love those - he has a very sweet tooth

SuperSillyus · 07/09/2008 07:37

I am having a nightmare with this. I was trying to cut down feeds subtley but ds has become desperate and clingy. He is using me as a dummy and howls when I withdraw availability.
Last night we went round in circles with me trying to settle him for 3 hours.
I've had 3 hours sleep and I feel ill.
He used to be really easy at night until recently.

I'm getting desperate now.

sillybigsausage · 07/09/2008 12:01

Oh dear - sympathies Super

Similar situation here - DS2 had 5/6 feeds last night - am so knackered I can't count any more...

Demands to be carried round all day and wants to suckle for days on end :

He used to go back to sleep at night if I refused to feed him, now he just howls and the longer I resist givng him the nipple, the more the howling escalates...

I found when I night weaned (at about 14 months) it got under control and now I bf 3x per day (morning, bedtime and nap).

I used the dr jay gordon method for night weaning.I don't give formula and he rarely has milk, but has yoghurt, cheese, etc.

kiwibella · 07/09/2008 19:40

off to google Dr Jay

My probs are with constant day time bf... night seems to be nights where hubs gets up and gives a bottle
