Weaning and highchairs / bumbos etc

Hi all

My DS is six months old and we've just started weaning. This is his second week on solids and he seems to be taking to it well.

He's a big lad about 19lb and so was quite hungry. 5 cubes of his fav sweet potato and courgette is what he has currently for supper, but he seems to have taken a dislike to banana....

Anyway the reason I sound unsure about the banana is because I'm wondering if the problem is actually his HIGHCHAIR!

He's a big lad, but this chair seems to be designed for two year olds - the gap between his crouch and the chair support is considerble - I'd guess about 10 - 15cm and so he ends up being slouched - and it's not adjustable.

Today he was refusing his carrot so I thought I'd try a Bumbo someone has kindly lent us and haypresto - he started eating - and finished his carrot.

However, he gets wedged in his bumbo, I don't think he'll be able to get his 'athletic' legs into it for more than a week or two...

So, can you get adjustable highchairs, that are more supportive? Ours was given to us by my SIL so don't mind forking out if it means we have happier mealtimes - recommendations greatfully received.

Many thanks
Sallypoo

Have you considered just stuffing a cushion or rolled up towel behind him to prop him up/wedge him in a bit better?

The high chair at my mums is too big for my DD, and this is what we do...

Thanks DB - no I hadn't. Will try this, this afternoon.

It just seems crazy, he does look rather unconfortable in the thing. It's a Chicco Happy Snacker.... The straps don't even go tight enough to hold him back, so he slides to the side and forward. The more I think about it the more I don't want to put him in it!
