Worrying - hopefully unnecessarily

Hi all. Started weaning my 6.5m old two or three weeks ago and all was going quite well and she'd had fruit and veg purees, rice, yoghurt, and on one occasion, chicken mixed with veg and fruit. She caught a cold a few days ago and altho' seems to be over it, is suddenly not happy about solids except her very favourites which are pears and yoghurt. She is happy to drink her bottles. Not sure whether she is still struggling with her cold, teething or whether we've put her off - when she had the cold we gave her some Calpol to deal with a temperature, and used a spoon we normally use for food (after we'd measured out, of course) Am worried that it's all gone wrong!!! Probs worrying too much but any suggestions/advice?

Meant to add that sometimes I wonder if she's getting more independent and wants to feed herself? Is very keen on holding bottle and spoon when she feeds generally speaking...or is it too soon for this to be the case?

this has just been a few days ago? honestly don't worry, this happens now and again, teeting, illness, anything.

with the self feeding yes it's fine and very normal at 6 months. look up baby led weaning. lots of people never feed their babies

are you sure she is fully over the cold? the latest colds going round our area seem to linger for weeks and althought we all feel mostly ok we still have a slight sore throught and a bit of a cough. perhaps your dd still has a bit of a sore throat and finds these the most soothing. let her have her way for a little bit more and just try with a spoon of something else every other while she will come round when she sees you eating other things.

my dd goes of food altogether with a cold and just reverts to milk so don't worry. try putting some finger foods on tray so she can feed herself if she wants to while you try and feed her the purees.

My DD goes right off her food and sometimes milk too with illness and teething and will only eat her favourites and sometimes not even them. Like you I had a massive panic when she first caught a cold after eating solids but it does come back. She barely ate anything or had milk for a whole week with an ear infection and about 2 weeks after this she at very small amounts due to teething!

I would say stick with what she likes and after a few days try her with something she has eaten before and see if she fancies it.

To be honest I would not worry again if she does not - my DD eats one thing one week and not the next even when she is well!! My neighbour who has a 2 and 3 year old still experiences this fickleness. It's the beauty of children - always keeping us on our toes!
