One more question about food, then I'm getting a grip!

As of about 4 days ago, I stopped spoon feeding ds (10m) and have been giving him meals that he should be able to feed himself. He throws most of it around and what he does get in his mouth he chews and spits out.
He's having formula with meals too which I give when I know he isn't going to eat anymore.
He is not letting me know that he is hungry at any point and he is a big boy so under eating a bit isn't gonna do any harm.
Should I be worried about the lack of food he has had this week? Should I just relax a bit or should I go back to spoon feeding?

That's not really one question!

He'll be fine - he's just getting to grips with this new way of eating. Give him a bit more time to adjust.

That's what I thought. I'm a natural worrier and dp just ignores me now so can't ask him. he tells me I already know what I wanna do so it pointless me asking, but it's good to get that bit of reassurance.
Thanx for reply

Hello again LBB!

Stop worrying! It'll come. You'll be amazed soon, I promise. Keep the faith. My DS was all over the place for about 6 weeks- sometimes ate loads, then other times it was like he had no idea what food was. Just when I was panicking and about to crack open the purees, he'd suddenly make another leap forward.

Don't forget there's loads more skills being used with BLW- he has to use his fine motor skills, manipulate everything in his mouth and learn how to swallow which is a completely new and strange sensation. It's tiring for him.

When he starts to swallow properly, you'll probably find he gags once or twice as he gets used to what he can swallow and how. Gagging is not the same as choking and can be met with smiles and encouragement!

If he's not telling you he's hungry then I'm sure he's fine. When he's writhing around on the floor in agony, holding his stomach and trying to eat your toes- then worry!!!!

Hi yeti. I know, I'm worrying about stuff that doesn't need worrying about!
Deep down, I know he's ok and that not eating a full meal for a while won't kill him and am capable of giving that advice to others and tell all my friends to get a grip when they comment on the lack of food he eats, but I suppose I need the reassurance that I'm not being cruel to my son IYSWIM.
