10mo won't anything cold!

DS will only eat food if it is warm, other than finger food (e.g. strawberries, cheese) which he is happy to eat straight from the fridge. Consequently I can't get him to eat yoghurt. He seems to like the flavour, but spits it out as it is cold. The only time I can get him to eat it is if it is stirred into hot fruit puree, but it goes very runny and makes a god-awful mess!

It is also a bit of a problem if we are out somewhere, trying to heat his food to the optimum temp. He'll only drink water if it is warm too!

Any tips?

I have the same problem - my daughter only eats warm stuff...even her juice has to be warm! She is also 10 months. I even have to slightly warm the yoghurt (yuck) so she eats it. She is hell to take anywhere as everything has to be warm. I cannot just whip out a yoghurt and quickly feed her in the park, instead I have to put the pot in a bowl of warm water to heat the yoghurt. Our little girl will not eat finger food either - a separate issue.

I am sick to the back teeth of it quite frankly..as it does make going out anywhere a pain. I understand exactly where you are coming from!

Not only us then! Warm yoghurt is disgusting and runny, but it is the only way he will eat any.

My sister has a 14mth old girl who eats absolutely everything, preferably cold, so is a dream to take anywhere, as she can just feed her wherever they are!

..AND GUESS WHAT?

My sister has a baby boy (15 months) who loves everything cold - joghurts straight from the fridge and she can also feed him everywhere. she never seems to understand the stress I have with my little girl when trying to feed her outside the home. As she does not accept finger foods either, I cannot even give her a sandwich instead!

Yep.. warm joghurt goes runny and a nightmare to feed from the spoon. Same with all the cold puddings you can buy which SHOULD be eaten cold - as soon as they are warmed they also go to a runny consistency. But it is the only way she will eat them.

I also thought I was alone with this problem

Out of interest, was your DD breastfed? My DS was until 6 months, so I thought this may be why he won't take anything cold, as he was used to having all his milk at a nice warm body temp.

Nope mine had to be bottle fed due to problems with her sleepiness at birth and refusing to latch on (jaundice related). But it makes no real difference though..her milk in the bottle was also a nice body temperature. I guess for some babies the switch over to cold stuff will take time - maybe our babies are a bit more oral sensitive and just need more time?

My DD is in hospital having checks for a few things as I type. While I was not there the nurses tried to give her juice (of course cold)..they said she had not drunken all day..and I said well her juice has to be warm..same with ALL her food. Lets just give it time.

One thing I did start to do and will continue to do, was to make her juice and joghurt warm and then over a time make them VERY VERY gradually not so warm - so instead of 10 secs in the microwave only 9, then 8 etc.. She started to take the joghurt slightly cooler - but not cool enough to be able to give it to her straight from the pot. Maybe one day we will have luck.

she won't waste away without yoghurt, you know

it's not a essential food, whatever Yoplait would have you think.
