If I were 6 months old, I wouldn't eat hipp organic pots either...

They smell utterly disgusting.

Looks like the blender is coming on holiday with us

Do BLW- much easier on holiday and no need to take blender so more room in suitcase for duty free toys for your baby!

ladytophamhatt · 11/06/2008 13:45

Oh, I've got a tiny little steamer that I used last yr on holiday. I shoudl be ebaying it but you could have 1st dibs on it if you like.

Most baby food tastes and looks foul actually. My DD wouldn't touch any of it so I decided to have the fruit purees on my yoghurt.

When I'd finished barfing up the first lot, I decided we wouldn't get anymore and did BLW.

Yeah I think most of the jarred stuff looks pretty grim. I bought one of thouse Plum Baby pots a couple of months ago after a momumental traffic jam caught us short and it was just like a yoghurt consistency. DS was eating more solidy solids from the start so virtually liquid sweet potato was not appealing.

No blending required!

ladytophamhatt · 11/06/2008 13:54

Its one of these

TattooedGrrrl · 11/06/2008 13:56

the Hipp cocoa and vanilla dessert is gorgeous....not that i've tried much of it, of course

Sanguine · 11/06/2008 14:17

I agree - it's all far too watery. We're doing some sort of hybrid puree/blw thing. He's really into purees usually, and sits there like a little baby bird with his mouth open. But his taste is for more and more lumpy and thick things, and he's good at sitting up and picking things up, so I can see we're going to be moving towards more finger food fairly soon.

Fortunately we're going on holiday to cornwall and staying in a cottage with a microwave, so steaming and cooking for purees shouldn't be a problem. And if I make sure I always have a banana (and a change of clothes!) we'll be ok even in a tight spot. DS is totally in love with bananas. He waggles all over if he catches a glimpse of one!

Thanks for the offer ladytophamhatt - it looks splendid (I do love little gadgets!). But I think we'll be ok cos of the microwave.

I eventually tempted him to try a bit of Hipp vegetable medley by dint of adding some of his milk, a bit of mashed banana and some home-pureed carrot. I guess he couldn't taste the stuff then! It's gratifying when your LO prefers your cooking to commercial convenience food. And actually, I love cooking for him, so we're both happy

Oh yes, the mircowvae will do the job.....we were camping so a microwave would have been a luxury
