Worried about dropping bottles

My wee one is 12 months so I know I should be taking him off formula and on to cows milk, I currently give him 3 or 4 bottles a day, 75% formula 25% full fat cows milk. I know I need to start transitioning to a free flow cup, he does use this for water. (He enjoys throwing it around and pouring water everywhere 🙄)
my concern is that I don’t feel he is getting enough nutritional value from what he eats. He loves to eat snacks, toast, bread, bits os whatever we are having when out but he won’t really eat anything I make for him whether solid or puree, I went straight to BLW so purées don’t really interest him. He has breakfast at the table with us - he has toast with peanut butter and some fruit. At lunch he has a sandwich and fruit or yoghurt then at dinner he again sits with us and we will give him some of what we are having but he doesn’t eat what I would class as a full meal. I have a fridge and freezer full of homemade meals for him that he won’t even put in his mouth so it can’t be the taste he doesn’t like. I‘m so worried about dropping the bottles in case he isn’t getting enough food but I also know I do need to get him off the formula.
I guess I’m just looking for some advice on finding the confidence to stop buying formula
My son was very premature so was on special formula for this first 6 months of his life along with iron and vitamin supplements. He’s now 12 months corrected and the thought of harming him through poor nutrition terrifies me.

Speak to your hv and if necessary they can refer you to community dietician for advice. Keep a food diary for a week of all intake.
The idea you might harm him thru food is a bit extreme but I am sure hv have leaflets they can give you about food groups to reassure you.
Abd there is no rush at 12 months to hit specifuc deadlines.
If he takes milk in a bottle til 18 months so what?

Ah bless you. You're not going to damage him from one week of "not enough" food. You'd have to systematically starve him to have any kind of impact.

Young children are very good at regulating how much they eat, so he might really just not be hungry. If you reduce the amount of formula he had, you might find he's more hungry for food.

FWIW my son is 2.5 and used to eat inconsistently, would basically live off one yogurt and a banana if he was ill or teething. My HV says to look at his intake over a week rather than a day. On that note, I have a friend whose daughter will eat a whole pizza to herself and then refuse dinner for 3 days - a bit like a snake 🙃

Thank you! I think I just needed to hear a bit of straight talking 😂 I’ve not been worried about any other milestones so not sure why I’m getting so stressed about this one. You are right, if it’s a bit later it doesn’t really matter and I’d rather go longer on a bottle and have the confidence in what I’m feeding him. The food diary is a great idea, I’ll start that tomorrow 😊

I think you’ve had some great advice already. If you want to start slowly, how about keeping the bottle for his nap and bedtime for now, but offering a cup of milk with breakfast instead of a bottle?
