BLW: food ideas for on the go / weekends away from home/travelling??

Hello,

My baby just turned 1yo and we are BLW / I'm still breastfeeding. I wouldn't say she eats a huge amount versus to some other friends' babies the same age, however I let her follow her instincts and she eats more or less depending on the day (perhaps teething / illness etc[.

We often travel on weekends to the countryside and are on the go. I never miss a meal at her age knowing that food is critical at 12m in addition to her breastmilk. Can you recommend some BLW ideas to pack in advance / prepare on the go / take to restaurants when we are in a different city that do not create crazy mess and remain healthy? Especially for the train or short haul plane trips.

I really focus on healthy products and especially vegetables. I would love to hear any veggie ideas on the go which are less risky to ruin my blouse!

Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

The whole point of BLW is that they eat what you eat, isn’t it? Mine always did. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Veggie muffins - there are loads of recipes if you google.

Omelette is another good option for travel days.

Steamed veggie fingers

Cooked fish and chicken.

Cheese strips.

Baby sandwiches - bread with houmous or avocado both go down well.

Soft fruits

Pouches of yoghurt.

In a restaurant they can just have a bit of whatever you're having - great way to introduce new tastes.

We would just order a side of vegetables or I would get a salad with dressing on the side and pull out some of the softer pieces. Toast or pasta.

Fairly sure taking the first 5 on a plane is asking for food poisoning………

Erm...nope.

Why would having them on a plane give you food poisoning?

How do you keep them cold enough for hours?

I'd use a cool bag (or keep cool flask) just like for a packed lunch or picnic.
