What age did you drop the afternoon feed?

Hi

My DD is just over 9 months old and is on formula for her milk, she eats everything I put in front of her and has a brilliant appetite! I make all my own food and she loves it!

She has an 8oz bottle at 7am, then another 6oz at 3pm and a 6oz at about 6.30pm before bed. She is starting with a childminder (very good one) on Tuesday and she has hinted at dropping the 3pm bottle? Not sure why though, maybe she thinks its a hassle? She drinks the 3pm bottle most of the time, but a couple of days she hasn't been bothered and hasn't cried for it, had her dinner and still slept through.

So my question is, is it too early at 9 months for her to be only having two bottles a day and what is the minimum amount of formula she should be having each day. If I drop another feed she will only be having 14oz a day, plus cheese, milk in cereal etc. Is that OK?

Thought I would add though that she is very petite, still only weighs just over 17lbs and is on the 9th centile, but HV didn't seem that concerned? In fact last time she was weighed she had dropped 8oz, don't know whey though as she isn't crawling etc yet?

My 13 month old still has her afternoon bottle. i've thought about dropping it a few times, but she still seems to enjoy it, so I haven't done anything about it. I've actually been grateful for it on the couple of times when she's been unwell and gone off her food, because at least she's had that.

My nearly 3yo still has a cup of milk (cows milk) around 3pm every day!

ds wasn't that intereseted from about 9 months but i kept going until after 10months; dd was still hugely into it at 10/11 months and for various reasons I was keen to stop so replaced it with a cup and a substantial snack.

If I were you I'd keep it for now.

I always fed my children at roughly 7, 11, 3, 6.30 and at 2 and 4 they still have milk at around these times each day. I wouldn't be in a rush to drop the 3pm - maybe you could start offering it in a beaker at that time.

By the time DD was one she was only having her bedtime milk in a bottle which made it really easy to drop. She now has (roughly) 8ozs morning and evening and 4ozs mid-morning and afternoon. (Amount based on a large cup, full or half-full)

Oh and DS is 4 and still has milk around o'clock.

I wouldn't drop to 2 feeds at 9mo though anyway tbh. I have a 10mo who has more like 4 feeds during the day (and doesn't sleep through)

I think about 13 months or so? He dropped the morning one earlier, that's for sure. I'd just keep offering until she doesn't want it any more consistently. Mine sometimes didn't want the afternoon one and then did for quite a while and he doesn't have either now at 14 months but has a mid afternoon snack instead

They need about a pint of formula day until they are 1. That's 20 ounces, I think?

14 mth old has 7am 11am and 4pm and 7pm feeds. Still partially breastfed. He has 4-5 oz feeds.
eats other food like babyvelephant !

cripes i'm a bit confused. my hv advised that i should put my 7mo on 2 milk feeds only, so we do morning and night. this hasn't caused any great issues for him, he pretty much goes with the flow. he certainly never seems hungry, but i was concerned about the calcium/protein issue especially since we are veg so he only gets limited amounts of these anyway. do others think i should revisit this? by way of background he is a biiiig 7 months. he's been 98 percentile for a long time now so i have been concerned that he's put on too much weiht with all the additional food and bottles as he's only just getting to crawling stage.
