8 Month Old Doesn’t Eat

My 8 month old has 5 formula bottles a day (180 ml) and a bit of boob over night. She rarely eats, even though offered 3 meals a day.

She is currently dairy free, can’t eat fish, allergic to the majority of fruits and also avocado. (We are under the paediatrician and dietitian).

Does anyone else’s 8 month old show no interest in food? Occasionally she’ll eat absolutely loads and then that’s it for 4 or 5 days.

Food under one is just for fun, honestly she's tiny still, don't stress and just keep offering her food.

I think lots of babies who are allergic can be reticent to eat, especially of she’s nit very hungry from the milk.

She’s probably clever enough to alrwsdy have associated some foods with pain and discomfort.

For now, i would keep offering her food but don’t expect her to eat anything at all and take it as a plus if she does eat.

So don’t encourage or cajole, dont show disappointment or stress, just serve the food and eat yours, blithely ignoring any protests.

Is the list definitely everything that ahex allergic to? Flowers

My daughter's favourite was sweet potato leek and pea. I remember it so well because it tasted lovely.

When my daughter was like this around 10 months we were told to drop one bottle and make the time between solids and milk longer. It worked and she magically started eating more.

I’ve just read my post back and I’m sorry for the typos Blush

She's very young, this isn't unusual at 8mo. Don't compare to other babies.

Also if you are already under medical supervision then get real advice before doing anything drastic about food, milk provides necessary calories and nutrients.

That sounds like quite the list of things she can’t have. At eight months I wouldn’t worry tbh. I think all of mine were at least ten months by the time they started eating anything in a meaningful way. Up until then they seemed to just mess around and smear it everywhere…!
