Weaning/combi feeding

Unsure how to title the thread.

Baby is almost 5 months and currently combi fed. He has, on average, 4 x 5 ounce bottles of formula per day and breastfeeds throughout the day and night for both food and comfort. I can't say how many times he bfs per day exactly but it's a lot, but he does like his bottles as his 'main meals' as he's got used to them now.

I never intended to give him formula, it started off as a supplement due to poor latch in the early days, so I'm wondering if it would work out to drop the bottles once he starts on solids, and just breastfeed around that? Has anyone taken this route before following combi feeding? Thank you

They don’t usually start to drop feeds until they’re around 8 months-ish. For now I would carry on as you are and start introducing solids once a day when they are showing the signs of readiness.

I suppose whether you drop Bags or FFs at the time is how you feel at the time?

Will they be going to Nursery?

Just a word of warning that mine didn't even start dropping their milk intake until they were on 3 meals, around 8.5 months, and the drop was not significant even then, even though he was gobbling up food. It's more like 11 months-ish that milk intake really drops.

The growth rate is still very high 6-12 months so they need lots of calories.
