DS2 is approaching 7mths ish, and is much less interested in food than his older brother was.

We're doing a mix of BLW and some spoon feeding, but he's not v interested and only seems to like sweet things.

He'll feed himself toast / oatcakes occassionally, the only things he eats with gusto are baby jars of rice pudding, which i obviously don't want him eating every day.

Have been racking my brains for sweet things with more range- tried sweet potato, which he ate a couple of spoons of, and banana (both as finger food and mashed) which he sort of liked.

Any other sweet tasting suggestions??

My DD is kinda opposite She won't eat things to sweet, so I would try him on fruit purees like peach strawberry mango...my DD does like peach slices (she really just sucks on them) but watch if a peice breaks off.
Also she loves yogurt. I get her the Muller Little Stars (says good for weaning on package) maybe that would be sweet enough?

If you find a fruit puree he likes mix it in with oat porrage and then reduce amount of fruit to get him used to something more bland?

Some jar food my DD won't eat. Like last night I tried to give her Hipp Organic Turkey, veg and cranberry dinner. She was spitting it out so I tasted it and it was very sweet...so maybe something like that? Same with the pork and apple dinner.

Also keep in mind it can take a baby like 15 tries before they accept a new food so hang in there and just keep trying!

do a mix of sweet with savoury, and gradually decrease the sweet to savoury ratio.

Some great combinations are:

apple, spinach and peas
pear, carrot and salmon
apple, carrot and chicken
sweet potato, lamb and cinnamon (my babyfood bestseller!)
apple, red lentil and sultana
broccoli and date (this was DS's favourite, I gradually added less and less date and to this day he loves broccoli)

Mix any fruit with veg in fact, and veg with dried fruit, and fruit with meat etc etc

You can also make your own rice pudding and add veg to it, more like a milky risotto really.

Keep offering savoury and he'll soon get used to it!

how would i do the apple and lentil one?

cook up some red lentils in water until soft and most of the water has been absorbed. Also cook up sme peeled cored apple until soft. Then blend the apple with the lentils and a very small handful of sultanas. If you don't want puree, blend the sultanas with half the lentils, chop up the apple, and mix the blended stuff with the chopped apples and rest of the lentils.

quantities here if you can work out the weight you'll need by the percentages.
