DD is 10months and eats very little and fills up on breast milk instead.

Just want some new meal ideas especially breakfast. I have tried baby cereal, weetabix, porrage, toast, eggs but she eats very little. She seems to of had enough of yougurt.

Also I feel she likes unsual food, she loves hommus and bread sticks and now just found out she likes olives.

I think she prefers savory to sweet food.

eggy bread? espec. as it sounds like she likes finger food.

I have tried her with it in the past and she was not to keen, but I will try again as they are always changing their minds...

I would second the eggy bread, also omlette cut up (suggestion from someone on here).

You can put all sorts on the omlette, my son loves cut up cherry tomatoes.

Also my sons fav is shreddies soaked in a little milk, he is 10mo and won't be fed by spoon anymore.....

rosyrabbit · 15/05/2008 09:33

The omlette sounds like a good idea as I can sneak other healthy things in there... How do you cook yours? I know it sounds silly but I usually fry mine in a little oil os was wondering if there was a better way.. And I will try the shreddies.

DD is 9m and isn't ever interested in breakfast so I don't force it tbh - she's full of milk. She also prefers savoury to sweet.

Remember babies don't know what you're 'meant' to eat for breakfast so you can give them any old food (last night's leftover dinner is a good one)

Mrsbadger - what does your dd like for lunch and dinner?

I have never tried leftover dinner, never thought of that... lol

Nursery give her lunch so she gets standard Karmel-style chicken hotpot / lentil and veg bake / cheese & broccoli pie type mashed stuff, of which she eats some and smears the rest in her eyebrows (or so it appears) but refuses the fruit puree 'pudding'.

'Tea' (still at nursery) of slightly random finger food - toast, pitta, fishfingers, fruit lumps, veg sticks, sandwiches etc which she certainly has fun with and is getting better at actually eating.

Supper (at home) generally our leftovers from earlier in the week, mashed or not depending what they are (eg lamb curry lightly blended, risotto mashed a bit, stir fried chicken and veg to eat in fingers). Maybe yoghurt and/or fruit afterwards if she seems up for it. Or a biscuit healthy oatcake if supper was sloppy and she wants to have something to feed herself with.

I fry mine in a little oil as well, put loads of cheese on top and finish under the grill to make sure it is all cooked.

My son loves finshfingers, sandwiches (cut up into small cubes is better for my ds), fish cakes. He is not a big fan of pasta yet. But I mashed some potato down the other day mixed it with sweetcorn, coated in flour and fryed. He loved that sliced up!!

Once you find out what your lo likes I always put that on the plate and something brand new to introduce them, it always takes my son a few meals before he trys anything new!

Thanks for the ideas the mashed potaotewith sweet corn sounds good.. Sometime I just get stuck in a rut.

Anyone else with ideas??

If your LO doesn't particularly like cereal try adding a bit of cinnamon to it. DD has bitesized shreddied wheat which are a bit bland coz they have nothing else in them, but I warm the milk up and add a bit of cinnamon and a few raisins.

Eggy crumpets (soak a crumpet in beaten egg and fry).

My DD eats quite a lot for brekkie but less so for tea as she is getting tired by then.
