DD2 (8mths) has decided that she will no longer be spoon fed and wants to do it herself which i don't mind but i have no idea what to give her for lunch.

I know this is a realy stupid question but she has no teeth yet so can i give her bread.

Yes, definitely! Toast might go down easier, it gets less gooey and is easier to swallow, I think. It's amazing what they can chew without teeth. Your DD sounds like the twin of my DS - same age, also refusing spoon. Breadsticks with the top bit smeared in Philadelphia, or a mix of Philly and avocado are our current favourite. Or eggy bread (French toast if you're posh ) Although I fear we may be terribly middle-class as yesterday he had seabass and polenta, LOL Omelette is also good for them to pick up, plus you can get lots of veg into that if you grate it (I find some veg too slippery for DS to hold as an individual piece). Good luck!

Thanks Tinkjon

She is just so different to dd1 just wanted to be fed.

thing like nice ham , cheese, omelette if you're giving egg, fruit pieces, chickpea burgers etc are good. have you had a look here, there are lots of recipe ideas on the site and the forum.

or, i now realise, thinking back to nearly 2 years ago... the leftovers of whatever you had the night before reheated. or pasta salad. or some of your tuna sandwich.

Ooo I posted exact same thing about my 9 month old ds. Got lots of tips and basically told I need to chill out and let him enjoy food. I just give ds anything I'm eating (as long as no salt). Scrambled eggs are fairly good and cheese on toast fingers are quite good too!

ricecakes with hummous, cream cheese, pate

mini sandwiches with whatever filling you have handy

fruit/veg pieces

baked tatties cut into wedges

pasta

anything, really!
