1 year old pushing food away

My little boy was 1 just over a week ago, has 2 bottles a day (morning and bedtime, slowly transitioning to cows milk) but in the last couple of days doesn't seem interested in food unless it's yogurt or toast.

He generally pretty good with finger foods like naan bread, garlic bread, fish fingers etc but if I give him pasta or anything with a sauce he will just play with it. We're doing a combination of baby led and traditional weaning and he used to eat pouches really well. Now he just bats my hand away. Tried him with Weetabix this morning for the 1st time in a month, was not impressed.

I'm worried about how much he is actually eating.

Anyone else had similar? Please tell me it gets better 🙏🏼

My DC is the same age and has recently been doing the exact same thing. I could have written this myself

Also just to add, he had his 1 year jabs on Wednesday. Has anyone noticed they affected their little ones?

Has he only been like this since his one year vaccinations @GeorgesMummy5224?

I remember a week or two of this at that age and it was teeth! Yoghurt and toast as preferences would tie in with this.

He's always been a bit up and down with food but I would say more so since his jabs. He started to refuse pouches about 6 weeks ago, which I know isn't a bad thing but sometimes when you just want something quick and easy 😕

He might just be feeling a bit poorly or teething.
If he's still having formula milk he'll be fine.

I've been wondering if it's teeth too.

It would be his molars but I can't see anything yet but he does seem to be a bit bitey. He's been trying to bite the tray on his highchair which he did when his last tooth was cutting 🤔

Seems to be pretty normal at this age. It could be the jabs or teething as pp said. Unfortunately for me mine who are everything never got better and has such a restrictive diet now. Just keep offering and don't stress about it in front of him. Hopefully he picks up again when he feels better 🤞

If you think it might be teeth I'd try him with a dose of Ibruprofen now and a teething gel just before he eats and see if that improves things Wink
