Does the weaning method you choose really matter than much...

...so long as baby is eating a varied and balanced diet and you have a vague plan of introducing finger foods and working towards normal family meals by the age of about 1

I ask because we're just starting to wean ds2 and have bought a steamer and am making all his food for him, lots of organic fruits and veg, purreed and frozen and mixed with baby rice and milk along with youghurt etc. he's loving it and doing really well. Been really proud of myself as I was really lazy with ds1 and he was weaned pretty much on jars of shop bought food

BUT baby led weaning now seems to the all the rage and not sure I've made the right choice now

Any thoughts, advice etc gratefully received

Doesn't matter all that much, I don't think We did BLW with DS (9mo) from about 24 weeks but also feed him mashed/chopped stuff with a spoon, as that is how he eats at Nursery two days a week. He is very adaptable and will eat anything - he's a little hoover!

I have a friend who started at 12 weeks with baby rice - her little girl eats the same things as my DS now, so it hasn't made any difference.

Just do what is easiest/best for you - and think how fab that your DS is getting all that lovely homemade food

Thanks everyone this has been really helpful to me. I think I'll carry on as we are and let him loose on finger foods alongside I like the idea of giving him nicely steamed squishy stuff to play with to start, I think we could both cope with that

Thanks Malory

I meant to say I could see what you meant and that was a thought that crossed my mind, does the method matter so long as the end product works...ds1 (now 3.5 years) is a prolific eater and I bumbled through with him, DH had to do the finger foods stage though as I just couldn't cope. I just had a wobble really as to which way to go with DS2. I'm unwobbled now and will as you say do it my way
