7 month old has no interest in food

Just that really. Started weaning at 6 months with homemade purée. Wasn’t really fussed but would take the odd spoon and very small bowl on occasion. He has allergies and had an FPIES reaction to wheat and wouldn’t eat for a while after that.

He is now just over 7 months and has zero interest. Won’t open his mouth or turns his head away. I’ve tried purée and finger foods (no interest in even picking these up). Normally, I wouldn’t worry but he isn’t gaining weight as he should and is only on the 2nd percentile. He has a paeds appointment in a few weeks but they don’t think it’s anything serious.

I don’t really know what to do. My oldest was the easiest baby to wean and ate everything until 14 months when he started with sensory issues (ASD).

Any other babies slow to weaning and all was okay? I’m getting really worried 😣

Hey op sorry to hear you are finding this stressful it's always hard I think when the second doesn't do things like the first.
At that age they don't need food as such and can still get all they need from milk (breast or formula).

My first wasn't a big eater until after she turned one and o got very stressed as friends babies were eating loads and mine wasn't.
What helped my stress was stopping seeing food at that stage as anything other than something to play with and get used to textures. Would sit her with us whilst we ate with bits from our plates on her tray and just let her play with it. Some times things went in her mouth but lots of the time it didn't.
Hopefully the doctor can help you feel better about it all.

Oh should also say she is now 16 and a slight build but eats well and doesn't have any issues with food at all.

I think it's fairly normal to be wary of food if they have allergies. He's probably worked out that food can hurt him already.

Just keep offering at this stage and don't stress if he's not eaten.

Have you been referred to a Paediatric Dietician yet?

In my experience it was/is common not to really eat much at all over the odd bit of blw carrot sticks and banana until one. All preferred boob.
